George Bursick belongs to the winemaking generation that formed and continues to shape California’s reputation as one of the world’s premiere wine regions. Growing up in Sonoma County, many of his friends’ families were grape growers and he was exposed to vineyards and winemaking at a young age. George earned his Master’s degree in Enology from UC Davis, and, after graduation. he began his first solo winemaking job at McDowell Valley Vineyards in Mendocino County. After nine years at McDowell, George joined a new winery in Sonoma called Ferrari-Carano on the design/build team as Director of Winemaking, where he remained Executive Winemaker for 21 years.
George has led the winemaking team at Villa Toscano for the last four years and has a precise understanding of the unique characteristic of the fruit from Shenandoah Valley. His talent is clearly reflected in the world-class wines of Villa Toscano.
