The Piedmont region of Italy is the original home of the red wine grape Barbera. Italian immigrants introduced the grape through areas of central California where it has thrived and is especially successful in the Sierra Foothills where warm days are moderated by cool nights. Barberas are deeply colored, fruit forward and mildly tannic with a bright fresh acidity. Its intense red fruit flavor is enhanced by the toasty-ness that barrel aging imparts.
Our 2008 Barbera has deeply concentrated aromas of blueberry, cola, and caramel, coupled with intense flavors of blueberry and cherry cola, and underlying hints of vanilla.
Ready to drink now, or lay down for no more than four years. Great with meaty fish and lamb.
